Yukon Broomball Welcomes New Players!

Our league is non-contact and coed. 

We play:

• ​Bob Park Icebreaker opening tournament - end of November - Takhini arena (indoors)
• Function in the Junction tournament - late March or early April - Haines Junction (indoors)
• ​Regular season and playoffs - early December to late March - YBA arena (outdoors, covered) in Takhini subdivision on Normandy Road behind the elementary school. There is a temperature cut-off at which we do not play.

Regular season games are Sunday afternoon, Monday evening and Wednesday evenings. Games are three, 15-minute periods and are refereed.

We offer a "3 for $30" trial membership. If you like it, just pay the remainder for the rest of the season. 

Adult Member - 19 years of age or older on November 1.

Youth Member - at least 16 years and under 19 years of age on November 1. If you turn 16 during the season, consult the league.

Rookie clinic will be held in November/December, and the opening tournament is a great way to try it out.
 

​Equipment

• ​Broomball shoes (loaners available).  These have special "grip" soles.
• Broomball stick (loaners available).
• Jerseys (supplied by team).  Numbers must be unique per team.  Names on jerseys are not required.
• CSA approved (and not expired) helmet. Full face cage required for youth players and goalies. 
• Shin and elbow pads required.  Must be covered by pants / jersey, with no external tape/velcro. 
• Gloves required. Hockey gloves are fine, but you may prefer the thinner broomball gloves. Bare hands are not permitted.
• Hockey shoulder pads and hockey pants are not permitted, except for goalies. 

For loaner equipment, contact your team rep or anyone on the executive.
Broomball equipment is sold at Whitehorse Sports Experts and you may find second-hand options at Changing Gear.
